At Brown’s Taxidermy and Wildlife Studio, we are committed to providing efficient taxidermy services at the highest quality. We take great care in our entire process to ensure that each piece we create is a beautiful and respectful tribute to the animal that it represents.
Lita is a federally licensed taxidermist, and is professionally trained in both feather and fur bearing animals. She has studied under the direction of Master Taxidermist, James Kelly of Ringoes, New Jersey, after completing her initial training at Bill Allen‘s Pocono Institute of Taxidermy in White Haven, Pennsylvania.
As a practicing Surgical Physician Assistant, Lita brings a unique set of skills to the art of taxidermy. Her fine motor skills and perfectionism ensure that every project is handled with care and precision. It is evident in each of her pieces, that Lita strives to create the most lifelike and accurate representations that will last for generations to come.
Prices for taxidermy can vary widely by the complexity, material cost, and labor involved. Most popular requests and their starting prices are listed below. We also have extensive experience in other species, mounts and techniques, and offer custom projects for clients who want something truly unique. Make an incision through the skin just below the breastbone starting your cut behind the front legs and cutting completely around the body behind the shoulders. Cut around both legs no higher than 3" above the knees and cut up the back side of each leg (where the white fur meets the brown) until you hit the previous body cut. Roll and skin the cape down over the shoulders & neck and cut through the meat at the back of the skull. Place the deer in a plastic bag, but do not seal until the head is cool.
Rinse off any blood with cold water. Wrap the head and feet with wet paper towels and place the bird in a plastic bag. If the bird's tail feathers do not fit in the bag do not bend them. Let the tail stick out of the bag. Seal the bag and place it in the freezer or give us a call to drop it off!
Small mammals (coyote and smaller) do not need to be skinned prior to drop off. They should be frozen whole or brought to us as soon as possible.
Please note, we do not have a storefront or showroom for browsing—visits are reserved for customers with existing appointments for consultations, drop-offs, or pickups.
